Argh that was one of the things that lead me to ttatt. It took many years for me to reach ttatt, but things like that build up in a thinking person's mond until it becomes too much. Blondie excellently traces a trend of tightening control over the years, and I can say in my own experience that they've been tightening it up further in the last few years.

I belive it will. Look at the history of the org and there have been periods of change or upheaval which have caused people to leave. As the regime tightens, more people will probably chafe and leave. Here's hoping the July wt will have a similar effect to the infamous 1995 one.

The Story of Joe
by dozy inwhen i was a young pioneer , over the years i had built up a route call and every wednesday afternoon myself and a couple of the other pioneers would walk ( or if adverse weather , drive ) around the streets of our town and the surrounding villages distributing the magazines.
most houses were empty , which didnt really matter - it was a pleasant diversion from what was generally quite a harsh unfruitful territory to work.
we would talk about the things young ones talk about girls , football , tv and , er , girls chewing the fat over the latest gossip.. in our congregation , joe , a retired brother in his 70s lived with his non-jw worldly ( but very pleasant and hospitable ) wife , jean.

In a results oriented culture like JWs anything that doesn't produce quantifiable results is held to be of no value. If the wt changed it so you could count time visiting old n sick suddenly the old and sick would be inundated with pioneers. The problem is that human interactions have been reduced to mere data, in this this case what can be counted as hours or placements. When activities are stripped down to a number, things which have intrinsic value such as time spent with a dying man, or words spoken to a sick person become valueless. Such things cannot be quantified as data and therefore are held to be of no value.

WT August 15, 2013 QFR - Sitting next to a disfellowshipped child at meetings
by Designer Stubble inpage 8 of the latest wt (insider version) has a whole page dedicated to the question whether it is appropriate to sit next to a disfellowshipped child at meetings.. not sure how to paste this in, but check jw.org.
perhaps someone can do this for me.. horrible, no words really on how pharisee like their cult grip and control has become!.
first of all, without any shame they are talking about disfellowshipped minors.

But what about the banquet of spiritual food so lovingly provided for us by the Slave class? Come on, have some appreciation for the brothers' hard work!

I just can't believe how in the dark they are
by joe134cd inok the term i can best describe myself is a "neutral witness".
im neuteral in the sence that i know there are points that they are clearly wrong on, but just go along with it anyway because it the easier course of action.
i am fully a wear that things aren't the best, but like a bad marriage i just put up with it, do the best i can with the circumstances i find myself in, and hope things will improve, although they know deep down they won't.. anyway that aside.

So true. You have to be careful bout what u tell ur Jw friends too when they ask y u not coming to meetings n if you're gonna come back. Can't say, 'it's a cult, the leadership is evil n it's not the truth' cuz you'll lose your friend and when she goes to the elders your goose is cooked! So gotta say something vague about waiting on Jehovah, being stumbled, and dodging their programmed responses!
Never know if you've plant seeds though.

When all seems ok....
by Tylinbrando inmany of you know what has been transpiring with my daughter and the abuse she suffered for years at the hands of a congregation elder.
the abuser is still incarcerated awaiting trial.. today she had a substitute teacher that reminded her of the abuser.
there was a confrontation and she had a breakdown.

Sounds like your daughter is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. I have it and in some ways it never goes away. All it takes is a trigger and you're a blubbering mess. Just assure her of your love and show compassion. Therapy is good too, but may require her to try to desensitise herself to the experience by going over it in some way, which may take years for her to feel she can. It's been 16 years for me and I still can't talk about what led to my PTSD without getting agitated. I've never committed it to paper because I can't face to see it written or write it.
Your daughter will need time, a lot of time, and as a father and a man you want to 'fix' it perhaps, but what the sufferer needs most is your continued reassurance of your love and protection.
I speak this from experience.
